CSRC associate director Marissa K. López published the essay "On Mentoring First Generation and Graduate Students of Color" for the Committee on the Literatures of People of Color blog sponsored by the MLA Commons. In addition, López coauthored with Daniel Heath Justice an introduction to the piece describing the difficulty they had getting the piece accepted for publication in traditional journals.

A September 24, 2009 conversation at the Hammer Museum between CSRC director Chon Noriega and University of Texas, Austin, art history professor Roberto Tejada on the work of Celia Alvarez Muñoz is now available on Vimeo. Tejada is the author of a monograph on the artist published by CSRC Press.

The 17th Cine Las Americas International Film Festival will honor the life and work of Efraín Gutiérrez, a pioneer of Mexican American cinema in Texas.
