September 2025

Experiences of Trans and Nonbinary Immigrants in Los Angeles looks at the experiences, demographics, identity documents, happiness, community connectedness, economic well-being, sources of income, employment experiences, housing, transportation needs, health care, and law enforcement interactions of trangender Latinas. Results offer a little-known narrative of nonbinary immigrants through an intersectional lens.

The survey was conducted by the UCLA School of Law Williams Institute and Translatin@ Coalition in collaboration with the Royal Collection Corporation and the Connie Norman Transgender Empowerment Center (CoNoTEC) in 2023 and 2024.

The report was published by the UCLA School of Law Williams Institute in partnership with Translatin@ Coalition and supported by Latina Futures 2050 Lab, which is spearheaded by the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center in collaboration with the UCLA Latino Policy and Politics Institute.

Experiences of Trans and Nonbinary Immigrants in Los Angeles is available in both Spanish and English.
