CSRC Scholar Huerta Releases Book on Immigration Debate

Alvaro Huerta, CSRC visiting scholar in 2011-12, has published a book based on the research he conducted while at the CSRC. Reframing the Latino Immigration Debate: Towards a Humanistic Paradigm (San Diego State University Press, 2013) consists of short, non-fiction essays on Latina/o immigration in the U.S., including key policies and programs, such as “Operation Wetback,” the Bracero Program, and recent immigration debates in Arizona and the US Congress. The book includes a foreword by Juan Gómez-Quiñones, UCLA Professor of History and former CSRC director, and photos by acclaimed photojournalist Antonio Turok.

The CSRC will host a book-signing event in the CSRC library with Huerta and Gómez-Quiñones on Wednesday, October 9, 3:00-5:00 p.m.
