Workshop: "Uncasting Colonization from Our Bodies & Dreams"

The bozalta Collective presents "Uncasting Colonization from Our Bodia & Dreams", featuring workshops by Alan Palez Lopez and Joy Angela Anderson.

The keynote workshop, "Writing from the Body," will be led by Alan Palez Lopes in Rolfe Hall 2123 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The keynote will be followed by a movement and plant medicine workshop with Joy Angela Anderson in Rolfe Courtyard from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

A lunch and Q&A will take place between the two workshops in Rolfe Courtyard from 12:15 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.

Alan Palez Lopez is an Afro-Indigenous poet and artist from Oaxaca, Mexico. In their art, they explore the intersections of PTSD, undocumented immigration, Indigeneity, queer feelings, Black flesh, and visions for liberation. Their work has been nominated for the "Pushcart Prize" and "Best of the Net." They currently create, mourn, laugh, and ache in Chochenyo Ohlone Land.

Joy Angela Anderson is an independent Chicanx curator, dancer, and organizer from East Los Angeles. Her work considers decolonization, public-space, and non-western notions of healing and ceremony.
