Please join us when Syliva Zamora, professor of sociology at Loyola Marymount University, presents her book Racial Baggage: Mexican Immigrants and Race Across the Border (Stanford University Press, 2022), focusing on the racialization process for Mexican migrants arriving to the United States. Through interviews with Mexicans in Los Angeles and Guadelajara, she illustrates how racialization is a transnational process that is forever evolving as a product of immigration.

A reception will follow the event.

Organized by the UCLA Department of Sociology Race and Ethnicity Group in collaboration with the International Institute, the Cesar E. Chavez Department of Chicana/o and Central American Studies, and the CSRC.
