Talk: Storytelling with Professor Osvaldo Gutierrez

Join us on Wednesday, May 13th from 7pm-9pm in the Latinx Success Center to be in community and learn about the journey of Dr. Osvaldo Gutierrez. This event will focus on honoring our stories, building an academic self-concept, and a sense of belonging. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions and network. 

Dr. Osvaldo Gutierrez was born in Mexico and raised in Sacramento, California. He earned his B.S./M.S. from UCLA and Ph.D. from UC Davis, followed by postdoctoral work at the University of Pennsylvania and faculty appointments at the University of Maryland and Texas A&M University. In 2025, he joined UCLA as Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry and inaugural Chicano Studies Research Center HSI STEM Senior Faculty Director. He leads and sustains national initiatives that broaden participation in STEM, serving as the President of the Alliance for Diversity in Science and Engineering, organizing the Young Researchers Conference and Breaking Barriers Through Chemistry to support students and early-career scholars.
