Symposium: "Commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the 1993 Sit-in and Hunger Strike for Chicana/o Studies"
Join us May 25, 2018 for a symposium commemorating the 25th anniversary of the 1993 sit-in and hunger strike for Chicana/o Studies. Virginia Espino, Ph.D. will moderate a panel of student leaders in the early 1990s who participated in the efforts that led to the establishment of the César E. Chávez Center for Interdisciplinary In-struction in Chicana and Chicano Studies.
José M. Aguilar-Hernández, Ph.D. will deliver the keynote address, and photographer Abraham Torres will present a never before seen digital exhibition of photos from the 1993 hunger strike.
This event is presented by the UCLA César E. Chávez Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies and co-sponsored by the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center.
