Panel: "Show & Tell: What Can We Learn From Artifacts of California Elections?"

Event Date:
Thursday, February 25, 2021 -
4:00pm to 5:30pm
Event Location:
Online via Zoom

Take a trip back through California’s voting history in this show-and-tell led by historian Susan D. Anderson. Archivists from across the state, including the California State Archives, The African American Museum & Library, California Newsreel, and the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center will present one artifact from their collection (an item related to historic elections, the vote, the struggle for representation) and discuss its significance in conversation with the moderator, followed by a Q&A. This panel is part of California Humanities's new initiative,  California on the Ballot, a series of online conversations where archivists, historians, journalists, and election experts explore the role of electoral engagement – past, present, and future – in California life.

Moderator:
Susan D. Anderson, History Curator and Program Manager, California African American Museum
