Book Talk: "Coloniality of the US/Mexico Border"

Event Date:
Thursday, January 17, 2019 -
12:00pm to 2:00pm
Event Location:
CSRC Library - 144 Haines Hall

Roberto D. Hernández is an associate professor of Chicana and Chicano studies at San Diego State University. His recent publication of Coloniality of the US/Mexico Border: Power, Violence, and the Decolonial Imperative (Universsity of Arizona Press, 2018) interrogates, through a theorization of coloniality of power, the violences that occur within the US/Mexico borderlands. He links these border violences to the long histories of racialized and gendered colonial structures that exercise power over Indigenous bodies.

This event is organized by the Eagle and Condor Liberation Front and co-sponsored by the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center.

This event is free and open to the public.
