Book Talk and Archival Donation: Mario T. García presents "Father Luis Olivares, a Biography: Faith Politics and the Origins of the Sanctuary Movement in Los Angeles"
Join us as UCSB professor of Chicano studies Mario T. García presents his book, Father Luis Olivares, a Biography: Faith Politics and the Origins of the Sanctuary Movement in Los Angeles (UNC Press, 2018). Robert Chao Romero, UCLA associate professor of Chicana/o studies and Asian American studies, will introduce García. Books will be available for purchase at the event.
In addition to the book talk, García will also donate an oral history collection which includes interviews he performed with Chicano activist Raul Ruiz. García will discuss how Ruiz's oral history contributed to his 2015 book, The Chicano Generation: Testimonios of the Movement (UC Press).
