Event Date:
Wednesday, February 12, 2014 -
5:00pm to 9:00pm
Event Location:
Korn Convocation Hall, UCLA Anderson School of Management

The Dr. Winston C. Doby Lecture Series was established by the UCLA Academic Advancement Program (AAP) to honor its first director and to recognize his many contributions to higher education and the UCLA community.  In 1970, he created AAP, the nation’s largest university-based student diversity program, to assist first-generation college students, students from low-income families, and students from historically underrepresented communities. AAP provides an array of academic support services to assist students with completing their college degree.  Dr. Doby devoted more than 40 years to UCLA, the UC system, and the greater Los Angeles community, advocating for access and social justice in higher education for all students.

This year Hilda L. Solis, former U.S. Secretary of Labor, will be the 2014 Dr. Winston C. Doby Distinguished Lecturer.

Reception at 5 p.m.; lecture at 6 p.m.
