CSRC Research

The CSRC initiates in-house research projects and provides grant support for faculty and graduate students across the campus.

The CSRC's in-house projects, both current and completed, have broken new ground in the fields of sociology, education, media studies, art history, border issues, and women's rights.

Each spring the CSRC presents a one-day Education Summit that brings together scholars, educators, community representatives, policy makers, and students to explore viable policy recommendations and initiatives that can improve educational opportunity for Latina/o students.

The CSRC receives support for these projects from national, regional, and local foundations, corporations, and institutions:

Annenberg Foundation
California Community Foundation
Ford Foundation
Getty Foundation
The John Randolph Haynes Foundation
Hilton Hotels Corporation
Joan Mitchell Foundation
JPMorganChase Foundation
Los Tigres del Norte Foundation
Museum of Fine Arts, Houston
National Association of Latino Arts and Culture
Rockefeller Foundation
Social Science Research Council
Union Bank of California Foundation
The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts
The Walt Disney Company

Washington Mutual Foundation
The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation

To support research across UCLA, the CSRC administers three programs for faculty and students:

Institute of American Cultures CSRC Research Grants and Fellowships

Latino Research Program

Los Tigres del Norte Fund

Established in 1986, 1993, and 2001 respectively, these programs have awarded over $1.5 million in competitive grants and fellowships.

The CSRC also hosts a number of archival projects.

The CSRC Latino Issues & Policy Brief series publishes the findings of current research supported by CSRC in concise summaries for policymakers and the press.
