Generations of Exclusion: Mexican Americans, Assimilation, and Race, a book that resulted from research conducted at the CSRC by professors of sociology Vilma Ortiz and Edward Telles, was cited in a New York Times editorial concerning issues surrounding the current immigration bill under Congressional consideration.
