Faculty Associates represent the Institutional FTEs (full-time employees) that are allocated to the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center (CSRC) but appointed in traditional departments. They excel in their scholarship, administrative service, and community service, and have been pivotal in expanding the Chicano studies curriculum and supporting advanced students conducting research in Chicano studies and other academic disciplines. In September 2021, the number of Institutional FTEs was increased as part of the UCLA HSI Initiative in order to “build up UCLA’s intellectual community devoted to … teaching, scholarship and/or mentoring.” Faculty who were hired as FTEs as part of this initiative are both Faculty Associates and HSI Faculty Affiliates. All serve on the CSRC Faculty Advisory Committee.
