MEDIA: “CSRC Associate Director Interviewed for NPR Story on Latinos and Diabetes”

Alex Ortega, CSRC associate director and professor in the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, was interviewed for a National Public Radio story on the high rates of diabetes among Latinos, and a variety of efforts being made to reduce them. Ortega leads the “Market Makeover” project in East Los Angeles, which converts small food markets in low-income areas into stores featuring fresh fruits and vegetables.
