CSRC at LA Art Show

Thursday, July 29, 2021 - Sunday, August 1, 2021
6:00 pm - 6:00 pm
LA Convention Center–South Hall

Now in its twenty-sixth year, the LA Art Show (LAAS) returns to partner with Los Angeles’s major art institutions, as well as feature artworks from 120 galleries and across twenty-three countries. The 2021 programming includes the CSRC, for the third time since 2018, to participate in the fair’s DIVERSEartLA initiative.

As part of the LAAS DIVERSEartLA program, the CSRC presents Immersive Distancing: Carmen Argote and Zeynep Abes. The exhibition speaks to this year’s curatorial theme: women and non-binary artists working at the intersection of art, science, and technology. Curated by former CSRC director Chon A. Noriega, the installation features artworks by Los Angeles-based artists and UCLA graduates Argote  (Art, MFA ’07) and Abes (Design Media Arts, MFA ’20), who, through video and photogrammetry, highlight their experiences in L.A during the first phase of the COVID-19 lockdown, revealing ways in which they navigated isolation, loneliness, and challenging personal situations.

Opening Night: Thursday, July 29, 2021, 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Exhibition Schedule:

Friday and Saturday, July 30-31, 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Sunday, August 1,12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
