Information and Guidelines

Reference assistance: We provide consulting and reference support for primary source research in Chicana/o, Central American, and U.S. Latino studies, as well as how to locate information and use online and printed resources. We offer training on a walk-in basis and by appointment. For further guidance or to discuss your research topic in more detail, research consultations are available via Zoom or in-person by appointment only. To schedule a consultation, please make an appointment or email librarian@chicano.ucla.edu.

Archival research visits: At this time, the CSRC library on-site archival research visits must be scheduled with significant advance notice. Priority will be given to current UCLA faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students. See below for Guidelines for Use of Archival Collections and to submit an application.

We are available to give presentations on the history and resources of the CSRC Library. We also offer research assistance. Faculty who wish to bring a class to the library for an instruction session, please complete the CSRC Instruction Request Form.

Groups are welcome to visit the library. Please email in advance: librarian@chicano.ucla.edu

Our library is available for lectures and other gatherings. The room holds fifty people comfortably, and remains open to researchers during scheduled events. Please contact Celia Lacayo, CSRC assistant director (clacayo@chicano.ucla.edu), to reserve the library for event use. Consistent with UCLA Library policy to protect and preserve collections, CSRC staff must be present during any event. For this reason, we are rarely able to accommodate events after library hours.

The CSRC Library is located in Haines Hall, room 144 (first floor). On Google Maps, the address is 375 Portola Plaza, Los Angeles, CA, 90095. Free WiFi is available on campus (UCLA WEB).

The nearest visitor parking is Parking Structure 2 and Parking Structure 3. Parking is pay-by-space. For more details, please visit the UCLA Transportation web page for Visitor Parking.

The CSRC Library reserves the right to deny access to archival collections or to modify these guidelines based on the condition of archival materials and/or staff availability.
