Institute of American Cultures


As one of the members of the Institute of American Cultures (IAC), the CSRC participates in the annual cooperative IAC research grant and fellowship program. The IAC is responsible for strengthening and coordinating interdisciplinary research and instruction in ethnic studies with special attention to the four UCLA Ethnic Studies Research Centers, including the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center. Institute of American Cultures CSRC Research Grants and

Latino Policy Studies Grants

The IAC-CSRC Research Grants fund UCLA faculty, research staff, and student research proposals at the campus level. The deadline for grant applications is normally the end of April of each year, with faculty projects funded at not more than $7,000 and graduate student projects for no more than $3,000.

Institute of American Cultures Fellowships

The IAC Fellowship Program supports UCLA graduate students and visiting postdoctoral fellows that focus on scholarly research based in Chicano studies and multicultural studies. The Postdoctoral/Visiting Scholar Fellowship and Graduate and Predoctoral Fellowship applications are normally due by the end of December. Postdoctoral Fellowships range from $32,000 to $35,000; the graduate fellowship consists of a stipend in the amount of $18,000 plus in-state fees.
