Permission to Reprint


All material published by the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center Press is protected by copyright law. Do not reproduce our materials without our permission.

Requests for permission to photocopy or republish our materials (whether in classroom readers or print books) must be received in writing by post, fax, or email. The Press may charge a fee for granting permission to reproduce the work.

You may use the nonprofit Copyright Clearance Center to request permission online or you may approach us directly. Instructions for requesting permission directly from us are below. Failure to provide all reqeusted information will result in your request being returned or denied.

Our Periodicals

To reprint an article from Aztlán, the Latino Policy & Issues Brief, or the CSRC Research Report, you must provide the following information :
  • author of the article
  • title of the article
  • volume of the periodical
  • issue of the periodical
  • date of the issue

Our Books

To reprint material from one of our books, you must provide the following information:

  • author's name
  • title of the book
  • date of publication

Your Classroom Reader

To request permission to reprint our material in your classroom reader, you must include the following information:

  • the title of the class the reader is for
  • the term or date the class will be taught
  • the name of the professor who will teach the class
  • the name of the university at which the class will be taught
  • the number of copies of the reader
  • address of where our response letter should be sent

Your Book

To request permission to reprint our material in your book, you must include information about the publication in which the material is to be reprinted. This includes:

  • the name(s) of the editor(s)
  • the number of pages in the book
  • the name of the book
  • the name of the press or publisher
  • the for-profit or non-profit status of the publisher
  • the anticipated date of publication
  • the number of copies to be published
  • the selling price of the book to be published.
  • address of where the permissions letter should be sent (usually the editors or the pubishers)
