Poetry Reading and Writing Workshop with Leticia Hernandez-Linares

Event Date:
Wednesday, November 12, 2014 - 12:00pm
Event Location:
UCLA Dodd Hall, Room 161

The daughter of a Salvadoran family, Leticia Hernandez-Linares was born in Los Angeles and has been living, writing and working in San Francisco’s Mission District since 1995. For twenty years, she has been merging music and performance with her writing to communicate a poetry that crosses genre boundaries and geopolitical borders. Interdisciplinary at the core, she has collaborated with many talented visual artists and incorporates digital media, audience interaction, costume and props, and installation in her writing and art. Hernandez-Linares will perform in a class meeting of CS 107: Latina/o Families in the U.S., taught by professor Leisy Abrego.

Co-sponsored by the UCLA César E. Chávez Department of Chicana/Chicano Studies, the Chicano Studies Research Center, and Union Salvadorena de Estudiantes Universitarios (USEU).

This event is FREE.
