The Vincent Price Art Museum (VPAM) presents Laura Aguilar: Show and Tell, the first comprehensive retrospective of photographer Laura Aguilar. The exhibition will be on view September 16, 2017 - February 10, 2018. It will travel to the Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum, March 3 - May 27, 2018.

Laura Aguilar: Show and Tell sheds new light on a Los Angeles-based artist who has garnered critical attention for her contributions to performative, feminist, and queer art. Curated by Sybil Venegas, the exhibition spans more than three decades of the artist’s career and includes approximately ninety-five photographs and works in video. The exhibition also includes documentation of Aguilar’s performance, as it relates to the body and its cathartic role as in the seminal work, Three Eagles Flying. The presentation of Aguilar’s retrospective at VPAM is particularly fitting, since she is an alumna of East Los Angeles College, where she studied photography.

A scholarly catalog of Aguilar’s work, published by the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center Press, accompanies the exhibition.

Laura Aguilar: Show and Tell is a part of the Getty-led Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA arts initiative. For more information, visit pacificstandardtime.org.
